The Lovers is a brand new 6 x 30’ Sky Original series, starring Johnny Flynn (Beast, Emma) and Roisin Gallagher (The Fall, The Dry).
The darkly comic, romantic drama follows Janet (Gallagher), a foul-mouthed, hilarious, Belfast supermarket worker who doesn’t care about much at all, including her life, and Seamus (Flynn) a handsome, self-centred, political broadcaster with what looks to be a perfect London life and a celebrity girlfriend. The series also stars Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones, Holding) as Janet’s supermarket boss, Philip.
Set in Belfast, this is a sexy, funny, fight-y love story about two people who appear to be utterly wrong for each other – yet may just be utterly right.

David Ireland’s script, Justin Martin’s direction and Emily Almond Barr’s beautiful cinematography notwithstanding the fabulous cast, meant it was a real honour to be a part of bringing this beautiful love story to life.
Grade wise we wanted it anchored in reality but with a subtle heightened sense of colour and warmth as the series progressed and their connection increased. It’s such a lovely series and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
