A CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE

Halo provided full post production.

Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) lead the cast of this delightful holiday rom-com. A young girl desperately wants her uncle to find love and for his song to hit the number one spot by Christmas day.

A Christmas Number One is a classic musical rom-com, crammed full of funny moments, great tunes, and many emotional highs and lows. Produced by Sky, Genesius Pictures, Lupus Films and Space Age Films.

We required a top Post house that has all services in-house, with award-winning creatives, great spaces to work in, latest spec kit and above all, talented in-house producers to keep our Film on track against the toughest of deadlines – we fortunately chose Halo Post. At all points the Halo team, from backroom MCR through to delivery were in-step and all of our requests for yet another ‘ad hoc’ speedy file creation plus delivery were met with, yes, we’ll sort that – and Halo did, every time. Sound, Grade, and all points in between produced the magic!
Debbie Gray – Genesius Pictures

Although the film is primarily dialogue-driven, the music is, in many ways, the star of the show – added to which Chris Cottam (Director) was a fountain of ideas about how to sonically heighten the comedy moments. Jay Price and he worked closely and came up with some great ‘laugh out loud’ moments. Guy Chamber’s music came in two distinct flavours; songs that are performed by the cast – who range from an extreme metal band to a manufactured boy band – and a rich supporting musical score that underpinned the huge emotional swings of the film. The key to the success of this soundtrack is the sheer detail (and humour) of the sound editorial, the light and shade in the mix that helps underpin the emotional arc of the film – and the big musical moments, funny, painful and uplifting in equal measure.
